Slow down with textile artist Samantha Boot, and tune in to the process whilst you mindfully stitch in beautiful surroundings.

In this workshop you will create a beautiful quilt top, inspired by the surroundings of the Black Chalk Winery, all by hand. Taking inspiration from the sights, sounds and stories of place, we will stitch together throughout the day, translating these 'noticings' into something unique: techniques that you can use again and again in your own projects.
At the end of the class you will have a quilt top to add to or finish at home, as well as instructions on how to quilt and bind your completed piece.

A buffet-style platter lunch, a glass of sparkling Black Chalk Classic and all materials for the workshop will be provided, but you can bring your own hand sewing kit, favourite threads and fabrics scraps, plus thimbles if you like to use them.
Suitable for beginners and those with more experience, as this class is all by hand, some level of dexterity is required.
About Your Tutor
Samantha Boot is a UK based textile artist and quilter, specialising in the slow arts of hand stitch and natural dyes. A recipient of Arts Council England funding (2022), she has had work exhibited in major exhibitions nationally and internationally, most recently as a finalist of the International Art Textile Biennale 2025 which is currently touring Australia, was placed 3rd for Handwork at QuiltCon, Phoenix USA (2022), and has had a number of articles about her practice published around the world.
