About Your Tutor...

Samantha Boot is a Hampshire-based, textile artist and quilter, specialising in the slow arts of hand stitch and natural colour.

A recipient of Arts Council England funding, she was placed 3rd for Handwork at QuiltCon Phoenix (2022), has had work sold and exhibited nationally and internationally, and has also had a number of articles about her practice, published around the world.

Take me to class

You will learn how to use simple, mindfulness techniques combined with hand stitches to create a textile scroll. This is not a just sewing technique class, instead it's a chance for you to slow down, lean into the process and create without expectation.

Breathe

Start each section of this course with a moment of mindfulness. Samantha has recorded her versions of tried and trusted guided meditations that you can come back to again and again.

Stitch

Be guided throughout this class by your own thoughts and feelings. You have the skills you need to create something unique and you will learn to trust the process as you stitch by hand.

Notice

As you work, you will be encouraged to notice the colours and stitches you use, as well as the world around you. 'Noticing' is an important part of mindfulness and this class will leave you with the skills you need to continue the practice, long after the class has finished.
